What is the meaning of a prospect, stage or action within a pipeline?

At a base level, pipelines consist of three main components: Prospects, Stages, and Tasks / Actions.
- Prospects are simply the people or organizations that are being managed.
- Prospects can be added or removed from a pipeline and will hold details about the person/organization and their progress through the pipeline.
- Stages are logical steps that a Prospect follows along.
- For example, a Fundraising pipeline will have several Stages that go from Added, through communication steps, all the way to Closed or Declined.
- Within each Stage, there is a series of Tasks / Actions that define exactly what steps are (manually or automatically) followed to determine what happens with a Prospect.
- For example, the Tasks / Actions within a Stage may send an email to the Prospect, and then wait for the Prospect to interact with the email to progress to another Stage.
- Please note that all of these components are configurable.
